The Peace & Justice Center has movies and talks scheduled every Thursday night at the Center. These are free and available to the public, and we welcome all who would like to stop by. For a list of the ongoing weekly meetings, vigils, actions, etc. please see the list of Ongoing Events. For a list of organizations that meet at the Peace and Justice Center, please see the list of Organizations. Antonia Juhasz and David Solnit, activists, artists, and authors, will discuss U.S. oil and energy policy under the new Obama administration, the recent fall in oil and gasoline prices, the recession, and the ongoing war in Iraq. Thursday, February 5 7:30 p.m.The Take, Healdsburg Peace Project's monthly political film series The true story (presented by Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis) of a workers' struggle to re-start their idled auto parts factory, set against the backdrop of economic collapse in Argentina. Amid the current debates over globalization, The Take champions a humane economic manifesto for the 21st century. Saturday, February 7 4:00 p.m.Anarchists Against the Wall. A speaking tour by Anarchists Against the Wall, a direct action group that fights against Israeli apartheid and oppression in all its forms. The group was awarded the Carl von Ossietzky Medal - an award given annually by the International League of Human Rights, Named after German Nobel Peace Prize winner Carl von Ossietzky, who died in a Nazi concentration camp. Friday, February 13 5:30 PM The October 22nd Coalition Against Police Brutality Calls for a March on Friday, February 13th at 5:30pm in Courthouse Square, Santa Rosa. We are asking all people to turn out to this march and join us in calling on the Sheriff's Department to BAN TASERS NOW! We want an end to police brutality against our community, and fighting to stop the use of tasers is one step towards that goal. We will march to the Sheriff's Office in Santa Rosa and present our one demand: that they immediately end their use of the Taser. Thursday, February 19 7:00 PM, at the Peace and Justice Center: Injustice For an Activist: In 2008, Eric McDavid, an environmental activist was imprisoned, and subsequently sentenced with 19 years and 7 months for crimes he never committed. Loved ones will be giving a 2 hour presentation of Eric's story including the FBI's use of entrapment as part of the government's Green Scare campaign. |

Share also what is on your mind. Conversation is open-minded and open-ended. Thursday, March 19 7:00 PM at the Peace and Justice Center: Popcorn and a Movie: Feature Film- Lions For Lambs, with Robert Redford. An idealistic professor attempts to inspire a student to do more with his life, while a charismatic Senator pitches a new Middle East war strategy to a probing reporter. Half way across the world, two of the professor's former students, soldiers, are caught behind enemy lines in Afghanistan, fighting for their very lives.
